Sonoma
2010 Sonoma Zinfandel

l

egend has it that the Count of Buena Vista was the first to plant Zinfandel in California. Whether or not this story is true is fodder for the historians, but we do know that his winery's legacy as a pioneer in growing the Zinfandel grape continues with this current vintage.

The 2010 Sonoma Zinfandel features an aromatic bouquet full of plum, blackberry and blueberry with hints of red currant and black pepper. This is a full-bodied wine with excellent structure that is true to its varietal, well-balanced and displays just a touch of toast and fruit on the palate.

The wine is aged in a mix of French, Hingarian and American oak, using about 10% new oak. Fermented in both open tops as well as closed tops in order to capture the true essence of the Zinfandel grape, the wine is aged for 14 months before bottling.

This wine will serve well with slow-braised lamb shank.
